Three Men in Underwear Allegedly Rob Homes in Ahmedabad’s North Vastral

Three masked men suspected of belonging to a so-called Chaddi Gang have reportedly targeted residential properties in Ahmedabad’s North Vastral area during late-night hours, with thefts reported at Garden Paradise, Neelkanth Bungalows and Sun Optima flats.

Suspects Reportedly Move Around in Their Underwear

The group gets its name from the way members of such gangs are commonly described: wearing little more than underwear, or a chaddi, while carrying out burglaries. They are also often described as applying oil to their bodies before entering properties, a tactic said to make it harder for someone to grab or restrain them.

That unusual appearance is part of the reason the name has stuck. In the reported Ahmedabad incidents, the suspects were described as masked men moving through residential premises late at night while carrying weapons.

Three Residential Locations Targeted

The reported thefts took place at Garden Paradise, Neelkanth Bungalows and Sun Optima flats. The suspects allegedly moved through the properties after dark, targeting homes while residents were asleep or away from the immediate area.

CCTV cameras installed around the residential complexes captured the movements of the suspected thieves. The footage is now being used by police as they work to establish the identities of the men and determine whether the different thefts were carried out by the same group.

Weapons Added to Residents’ Concerns

The suspected burglars were reportedly carrying weapons during their movements through the area. Their faces were covered, making identification more difficult and leaving CCTV footage as an important part of the investigation.

The incidents have caused concern among residents of the affected societies, particularly because the suspects were reportedly moving around residential premises during the late-night hours.

Police Examining CCTV Footage

Police are examining footage and photographs from the affected locations to identify the three suspects. Investigators are also looking at the reported thefts together to determine whether they form part of a single operation.

The investigation will establish who the men were, what was stolen from the targeted properties and whether the same suspects were involved in each incident.
