Soldiers who reenlist within a specified period can receive a special four-day pass designed to coincide with the highly anticipated game's launch. The promotion applies to eligible soldiers who sign reenlistment contracts between August 1 and November 14, 2026. They must commit to at least two additional years of service, with contracts of up to six years also eligible.

A GTA 6 perk with a military purpose

The four-day pass is not being offered as a standalone gaming holiday. It is part of the battalion's effort to improve reenlistment numbers and encourage soldiers to consider staying in the Army.

According to Lt. Col. Angel Tomko, a spokesperson for the 3rd Infantry Division, the unit's new career counselor suggested an incentive that would connect with soldiers' interests. The idea was then developed into a programme aimed at the battalion's fiscal year 2027 reenlistment goals.

The unusual approach appears to have attracted attention among eligible troops. Army officials said that 20 of roughly 130 eligible soldiers had accepted the offer by August 19.

The exact days off will be coordinated between individual soldiers and their unit leadership. The pass is intended to line up with the game's release rather than simply providing unrestricted leave at any point.

The timing is built around GTA 6's launch

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. That date has made the game an unusually convenient target for the Army unit's incentive, given the anticipation surrounding the next major entry in the long-running franchise.

The offer itself does not change the requirements for reenlistment. Soldiers still have to sign a qualifying contract to receive the special pass.
